Overview
Wind Vac (and the Win Smart system) addresses the primary failure mode of mechanically fastened single-ply roofing: wind uplift at the field and perimeter. Rather than relying solely on fastener pull-through resistance, Wind Vac uses a vacuum-assisted hold-down principle to distribute uplift loads across the entire membrane surface. This allows thinner membranes to meet stringent uplift requirements without overdriving fastener patterns or adding ballast weight. It is particularly effective on re-roof applications where the existing structure cannot support additional dead load.
Key Benefits
- Distributes uplift loads across the full membrane — not just at fastener points
- Achieves high FM and UL wind uplift ratings with optimized fastener spacing
- Reduces fastener count and penetration density compared to standard mechanically fastened systems
- Compatible with re-roof applications where dead-load capacity is limited
- Approved by major insurance carriers in high-wind zones
- Reduces risk of membrane blow-off at perimeter and corner zones
Best Suited For
High-wind exposure zones, coastal and tornado-alley markets, re-roofs on older structures with limited deck load capacity, and facilities where insurance wind-rating requirements are stringent.
